Tomáš Javůrek is an artist, programmer, academic, and curator whose work revolves around digital media, big data, artificial intelligence, and online environments. In 2023, he earned his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology, where he was the principal investigator of an artistic research project focusing on big data and visual art (datatata.info). Tomáš Javůrek works as an Assistant at the Department of Photography in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. He has also taught at the Department of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and is an independent book publisher.
Since 2010, Barbora and Tomáš have collaborated under the moniker "&" and the platform metazoa.org. Their collaborative work predominantly centers on digital media and internet-based art. They are the founders and curators of ScreenSaverGallery, an unique experimental exhibition space for digital art at screensaver.gallery. They have also conducted joint research related to big data and visual datatata.info. In their roles as curators at ScreenSaverGallery, they co-authored the participatory exhibition project AI: All Idiots in Prague's MeetFactory, which explores the intersection of art and artificial intelligence.
